Dr. Fahmy graduated from Ains Shams University in Cairo, Egypt in 1989 with his doctor of medicine degree. He moved to Canton, Ohio in 1991 and did his Internship and Residency at the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine (NEOUCOM) Affiliated Hospitals of Canton. In 1995 he relocated to Richmond, Virginia to do a three year fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. The final year was spent in Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy training where he trained in Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and Endoscopic Ultrasound. After training, Dr. Fahmy returned to Canton to start practicing medicine and to raise his family.
Dr. Fahmy’s specialty interests include liver and pancreas disease, endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound. He is active at NEOMED (Northeast Ohio Medical University) as Associate Professor. Dr. Fahmy has been involved in many research studies and has made numerous presentations at National GI Meetings. He has also had a number of articles published in GI periodicals. Dr. Fahmy is on active staff at both Aultman Hospital and Mercy Medical Center of Canton.
Dr. Fahmy is a participating Medicare and Medicaid provider and is currently contracted with most commercial insurance carriers.
Dr. Fahmy resides in Jackson Township with his wife, Dr. Manal Assaad, a local ophthalmologist and their four children.
